Lamb of God has just announced the November 2013 release of a 10th anniversary edition of As the Palaces Burn. The album has be remixed and remastered, and the package includes un-released materials. Album is available for pre-order now.
In early 2013, Lamb of God frontman, Randy Blythe, made headlines for his acquittal in the manslaughter charges he faced in the Czech Republic. After the trial Blythe issued statement addressing fans of newly enforced rules for rowdy (and even violent) audience participation at Lamb of God’s concerts from now on. With news of the band’s financial turmoil , Randy Blythe has announced he will be writing personal memoir about his experience of being on trial for manslaughter in the Czech Republic. The memoir is scheduled to release in Spring 2014, but the band is still working on rebuilding themselves, and have since announced Fall 2013 North American tour dates with Killswitch Engage.
It’s certainly been an emotional journey, as depicted by Blythe’s self-produced and directed short film. Recently Lamb Of God was denied permit to perform in Malaysia, which may have rubbed some salt in the wound. Luckily the band appears to be in good spirits with the announcement of a very special 10th Anniversary edition of their album As the Palaces Burn. The excitement from band members on getting to work on and improve their legendary album cannot be contained, especially with the new production and mastering from producer Josh Wilbur.
“We are lucky to have the opportunity, a decade after our first attempt, to bring what I consider to be our master work up to speed sonically. Ever since the original release, we’ve been distraught about the sonic qualities of ‘As The Palaces Burn’. The band had captured lightning in a bottle and the budget limitation of a sophomore album turned our lightning into a firefly in a jar. The songs are undeniable and we’ve always been very proud of how this album launched our career. It feels appropriate to revisit now that we can and give this very special album the chance to reach our original hopes and it’s true potential.” – Chris Adler, drummer
