Now that minds have been blown and discussion heavily instigated by the recent production of Massive Attack V Adam Curtis at the Manchester International Festival, it’s time for the magic to be recreated for curious minds in the U.S.
Massive Attack have never shied from involving themselves smack dab in the middle of political conversation and controversy, and now they’ve applied their opinion and smarts toward a collaboration with filmmaker Adam Curtis. The result was a performance piece that shocked and wowed the Manchester audience last month, and will soon be doing the same at New York City’s Park Avenue Armory, September 28th through October 4th.
Curtis and Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja, along with design firm United Visual Artists and set designer Es Devlin, constructed the experience, combining film and music to show how our world today mimics our past, and that we’re stuck in a bubble that keeps us from moving towards a much better change for all. Adding to, and enhancing, the live performance are singers Liz Fraser and Horace Andy, who join Massive Attack for covers of a wide variety of songs from the last 30 years.
