Shearwater Announce New Album Fellow Travelers Set for November 2013 Release

Austin indie folk-rockers Shearwater are set to release their 9th studio album this November and have dropped one of the tracks, a cover of Xiu Xiu’s “I Luv The Valley OH!!” to give fans a taste.

Fellow Travelers is actually not an album of original material. Instead, Shearwater have covered songs that stuck out to them from the many bands that they’ve gone on the road with. Since list that includes Coldplay, Clinic and St. Vincent, this should be a cover album to get excited about. Says frontman Jonathan Meiburg of the LP, “Re-imagining and renovating songs by the bands we’ve traveled with—with assistance from the bands themselves—was like leafing through a scrapbook, and brought back the highs and lows of a decade of touring, from dives in Oklahoma and squats in Slovenia to the Fillmore West, the Bataclán, and the MGM Grand…” The first track they’ve released is a cover of avant-garde duo Xiu Xiu’s “I Love The Valley OH!!” Listen below:
