Rock band The Replacements, who got their start in the 1980s, performed live for the first time in 22 years at Toronto’s Riot Fest last Sunday.
The Minneapolis-based group announced reunion in June, and they plan to play sets at Riot Fest Chicago and Riot Fest Denver in September. Consequence of Sound reported that The Replacements’ Live Archive Project has uploaded a recorded stream of the entire performance.
The Replacements’ guitarist, Slim Dunlap, had a stroke last year, and the reason the band decided to reunite was to show support for Dunlap. The non-profit fundraiser Songs for Slim had artists covering Dunlap’s songs and auctioning them to the public, then giving the proceeds to Dunlap’s family.
The reunion isn’t the only exciting news from the rock veterans – their last album, All Shook Down, will finally be pressed to vinyl in the U.S. and reissued in November. The album was originally released in 1990.
