Tonight the lucky ones are at Riot Fest Toronto, where The Replacements are reuniting to play their first show together in 22 years. Added to this excitement is news the band’s last studio album, 1990′s All Shook Down, is now finally being pressed to vinyl in the United States.
The iconic album for The Replacements started out as a solo project for lead man Paul Westerberg, as it was a time in which the band’s future was in flux, but most of the group ended up involved in its making, regardless. The band would then split up the year after its release, playing their final show on July 4, 1991, in Chicago.
Since then, band members have gone their separate ways, but a few, including Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson, joined together in help with a covers album to benefit former guitarist Slim Dunlap, who had suffered from a stroke.
It’s been announced the vinyl release of The Replacements final album will coincide with Record Store Day’s Black Friday spinoff, on November 29th, and in the meantime the group will also be playing Riot Fest Denver and Riot Fest Chicago in September.
