Confusingly-named superduo Minor Alps has released the confusingly-named song “Buried Plans” off their upcoming debut album Get There (we…think we understand that)
You may not recognize the name Minor Alps, but there’s a decent chance you’ll recognize one of its halves. Matthew Caws built up a solid career with 20-year old indie band Nada Surf, who released an album in 2012. Juliana Hatfield, meanwhile, made her name with the Blake Babies, a Boston alternative-rock band that counted Evan Dando, frontman for the Lemonheads, among its members. The two are together, and going strong, and believe that Minor Alps represents a collision of best worlds.
Get There is due out October 29th. The eleven songs on the album are performed almost entirely by Caws and Hatfield, both of whom play multiple instruments. Collaborators do show up, but the list is small. Check out coverage on the album done by NPR.
