Iconic singer-songwriter Marianna Faithfull, known as an icon of the sixties rock ‘n’ roll era, is allegedly convalescing in her Paris home after breaking her back. She was vacationing in the U.S. when she fractured the triangular bone at the base of the spine known as the sacrum.
Faithfull is currently sixty-six years old, and in 2006 successfully won a battle with breast cancer. She had originally hoped that this time her health would not be an issue and she would be recovered in time for the August 17th performance for fans in Beirut, Lebanon.
In addition, she has cancelled September shows in Chicago and New York, and will push back the release of her twentieth studio album.
She has released a personal statement for her Lebanese fans, saying:
“I broke my back in July and hoped and prayed I would be better enough to be able to do the performance on 17 August, although it’s not very long, but my recovery was going well,” Faithfull wrote in a letter to her European fans. “Alas. I have never been to the Lebanon though I know it through books. It looks like one of the most beautiful places in the world.”
