The Melvins 1983 Lineup Announces New Album Tres Cabrones For November 2013 Release

A very unique album by The Melvins is to be released on November 5th via Ipecac Records. This 12-song recording will feature a modified line up with Dale Crover playing bass in place of the drums and Mike Dillard (original bassist) back on the drum set. The band has done multiple shows in different configurations such as this one.

The new album entitled Tres Cabrones, will reunite band members Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Mike Dillard.

Dillard has joined the band several times in the past including last year when they released the four-track 1983 EP. In addition, Dillard appeared alongside the musicians during the 2005 promotional dates of Mangled Demos from 1983 and the Endless Residency at Spaceland in Los Angeles.

Osborne speaks out comparing Tres Cabrones to the Melvins 1983 line-up.

“Tres Cabrones is as close as we’re willing to get to the Melvins 1983 line-up. The best part is it’s all new songs. I specifically wrote tunes that would be good for these guys to play and it worked out great. We had no interest in rehashing tunes we wrote 30 years ago and chose instead to simply create NEW songs. It worked out perfectly.”

Dillard, who was replaced by Crover in 1984, speaks out on being reunited.

“Making the Tres Cabrones record was a real treat indeed. It’s a trip down memory lane complete with debauchery and ultra violence.

Crover added to this statement saying,

“After 30 years we release a record with the (almost) original line-up of the band. I’ve always felt that drummer Mike Dillard was one of us. It’s great that he’s still a piece of the puzzle! Plus, I get to see what it’s like being the bass player in the Melvins! Tres Cabrones indeed!”

The Melvins have been crazy busy with the release of 2012 album Freak Puke, The Bulls and the Bees, vinyl release with Fucked Up and Mad Honey, followed by the release of cover album Everybody Loves Sausage.

In celebration of releasing the 2012 Freak Puke album, The Melvins decided to turn up the heat with an attempt at breaking the Guiness World Record for fastest tour of the US.

Currently on their 30th Anniversary Tour, don’t miss the chance to see these talented musicians.
