Since announcing the release of their latest studio album, the Arctic Monkeys have graced the world with a series of question songs straight off the album. The third and most recent single is entitled “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” and is surrounded with an air of mystery.
The album, called AM, is set to be released in September, followed by supporting tour, and includes collaborations with several others in the industry. The newest song off the album, “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High,” has surfaced, but that doesn’t mean it’s been released. Several videos of the song on YouTube have been removed, similar to their non-album release “2013,” and once again, we have the hook-up. The song puts its narrator in the position of wishing to seduce a girl, but have the misfortune of being shot down when she asks, “why do you always call me when you’re high?” It’s the third in a trilogy of question songs off the album, and is right in line with Arctic Monkeys’ iconic sound. Watch and listen to “Why’d You Always Call me When You’re High?” below.
