Anneke Van Giersbergen Announces New Album Drive Set for October 2013 Release

Dutch singer/musician Anneke Van Giersbergen has just signed to prog rock label Inside Out Music and will be releasing a new album, Drive, later this year.

Giersbergen, former singer/guitarist of The Gathering, began her solo career when she quit the band in 2007. She’s made quite a name for herself as a prog rock musician since then, working with many groups in and outside the genre including Napalm Death and Anathema. Last year she contributed vocals to many tracks on the album Epicloud from extreme metal legend Devin Townsend. The album ranked number four on MXDWN’s Top 40 of 2012.

Drive, Giersbergen’s fifth studio album and first on Inside Out Music, is due out September 23rd in Europe and sometime in late October in the US. An official US release date has yet to be announced. Of the album and her label change, Giersbergen said, “I look forward to a long and prosperous collaboration with InsideOutMusic. We share a genuine passion for music and it’s great to become label mates with my friend Devin Townsend and many more talented musicians. I am incredibly happy with my new album and I am stoked it will be available all over the world!” More information on that and her Fall European tour can be found on her official website.
