LISTEN: Vampire Weekend Cover Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”

You the hottest fish in this place. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, especially now that Vampire Weekend’s cover of Robin Thicke’s R&B track “Blurred Lines” confirms it. If that first sentence confused you, go listen. Do it. It’s funny, and features at least 100% less nudity than the original (and some truly amazing self-censorship).

Vampire Weekend is back, offering a marvelous, absurdly g-rated spin on raunchy dance track “Blurred Lines”. Currently riding high off of Steve Buscemi-fueled success Modern Vampires of the City, the band whoops with enthusiasm while frontman Ezra Koenig slurs his way through seductive lyrics and raps with deadpan sincerity. Vampire Weekend is set to tour this fall, extending an already fantastic 2013.

Only the latest band to venture into dangerous territory, Vampire Weekend follows Queens of the Stone Age in covering Thicke’s song. “Blurred Lines” has courted controversy from the start – hardly surprising given its wildly NSFW (and consequently very popular) music video. However, the song has proven irresistible to other artists – we await the U2 version with bated breath.
