WATCH: Austra Reveals New Video for Song “Painful Like” and Announces Summer and Fall 2013 Tour Dates

Austra now has an official video for their song “Painful Like,” and they’ve announced dates for their fall 2013 tour.

“Painful Like” is the second video that Austra has released for their sophomore album, Olympia, out now. The band had leaked two tracks from the album at the beginning of July, one of which was “Painful Like;” the other was “Hurt Me Now.”

Austra’s Katie Stelmanis said that the new video’s “main influence was 90’s sci-fi movies like The Ninja Turtles, Super Mario Bros and Garbage Pail Kids where all the visual effects are done by hand and look really gross.”

Olympia is the group’s sophomore album, and it is fundamentally a dance record. Austra was influenced by early Chicago house music, so they choose to record with a live band in the studio, with no loops or programming.

Their fall tour will take the band all over the U.S., with additional stops in Canada and Europe.
