Ethereal indie rock band Goldfrapp premiered a short film today for the song “Drew” off of their upcoming album Tales of Us.
The album, set to be released September 10th, was written and produced by band members Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and was recorded at their studio in the English countryside. Each song off the album, except for one, is named in the first person, and portrays a narrative of the title character. The story of “Drew” alludes to a former lover (or lovers) with erotic and nostalgic scenes in black and white, which allow listeners to interpret the story to fit their own. Goldfrapp has been known to experiment with many styles, from trip hop to transient to glam rock. This album, however, sees the band returning to their roots with a softer sound reminiscent of their debut, Felt Mountain. Along with the release of the new album, the band has re-launched their website for their fans. Check out the video for “Drew” below.
