After being sentenced to prison for tax evasion, and despite releasing new album in an attempt to solve her financial woes, Lauryn Hill is now behind bars.

Lauryn Hill’s career has been surrounded in controversy, including racially inappropriate comments and a nearly 15-year long retreat from society. It was during her time “underground” that she evaded about $1.8 million in taxes. Her explanation as to why she failed to file taxes did little to change her sentence and, according to TMZ, she is currently in a minimum security facility in Danbury, Connecticut and won’t be isolated.
