WATCH: Explosions in the Sky & David Wingo Release New Video for Song “Wading” From Prince Avalanche Original Movie Soundtrack

Explosions in the Sky and fellow Austinite David Wingo recently teamed up to score David Gordon Green’s new comedy, Prince Avalanche. Although the soundtrack is not scheduled to drop until August 6th via Temporary Residence Ltd, the collaborators have released a sneak-peak of one of their tracks, “Wading,” and provided a short video for the clip. Watch the preview, inside.

Advertised as a dark comedy, Prince Avalanch, will mark Explosions in the Sky’s and David Wingo’s second time collaborating on a David Gordon Green film. Over a decade ago, Green included Explosions in the Sky in his second film, All the Real Girls. Since that time the group has scored for several award-winning films including Friday Night Lights and The Driving Bell and the Butterfly.

The recently-released “Wading” sneak peak, however, suggests that the score for Green’s Prince Avalanch might be a whole new bag of tricks. While “Wading” still exhibits a distinctly Explosions in the Sky-like sound, the clip demonstrates more of an electronic edge than has been shown in either Explosions’ or Wingo’s previous work. Despite elements of unfamiliarity, however, the track does contain a lush, symphonic nostalgia that harkens to work we have come to know and love from both artists. View the sneak peak below.
