After Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe’s arrest, incarceration, trial and acquittal – in which he was charged for manslaughter while on tour in the Czech Republic – he is writing a memoir which is due for release in spring of 2014.
The memoir is currently untitled and the rights have been sold to Da Capo Press, the company that published memoirs by other heavy metal artists, including Tony Iommi and Rex Brown.
Blythe’s trial has created financial troubles for Lamb of God. The band has been faced with lot of legal fees, which bankrupted them, and drummer Chris Adler told Spin, “When Randy was acquitted, everything was on the line at that point. Either it was completely over, or we had a chance to get back out there and pay these bills and get ourselves back on our feet.”
The band is on a summer tour through North America and Europe, which will probably help their financial situation quite bit. Blythe also made it clear that Lamb of God does not want any more legal trouble when he announced that they will not allow fans onstage during the tour as a safety precaution.
As for the memoir, fans can expect Blythe’s unique writing style. Da Capo Press Executive Editor Ben Schafer says, “I knew that Randy was a master vocalist and lyricist but it turns out he is a vivid and visceral prose writer as well.”
