Rick Rubin Says He Wasn’t Involved in Producing Jay Z’s New Album Magna Carta Holy Grail

Jay Z’s new album Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released July 4th. This will be Jay Z’s first album since 2009’s The Blueprint 3.

Commercial’s for Magna Carter Holy Grail have featured Rick Rubin in many aspects to promote the album providing fans with the idea he was involved in production of the album. Rubin has confirmed that these rumors are in fact false.

“The point of me being in the commercials was that he was filming a documentary and he asked me—I imagine he’s just comfortable talking to me—to come listen to the songs with him and just talk about the songs,” Rubin explained. “Just listen to it and talk about it, and that’s what we did. It was fun.”

Rubin also helped produce Kanye West’s Yeezus commenting that the two albums are “so different”.

“I liked what I heard, but it was a little difficult—after just coming from the Kanye sessions—to listen to Jay’s album, because they’re so different. I was in a very alternative and progressive headspace, and Jay’s record is a more traditional hip-hop record.”

The samsung-funded album Magna Carter Holy Grail will be released with contributions including Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Pharrell, Frank Ocean, and more. The much anticipated LP will be available for Samsung devices on July 4th for a wide release on July 8th.
