Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd has announced the release of his first solo album entitled In Deep Owl.
In Deep Owl was to originally feature Ben Shepherd only accompanied by his acoustic guitar, when fellow musicians Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam) and Matt Chamberlain brought their drum skills to the table. This unique collaboration has entirely shaped the album into something completely different than simply a voice and acoustic guitar.
Written entirely by Shepherd himself, he describes this master piece as,
“A collection of dark and complex songs with a voice that wears its life experiences on its sleeve. Gerry Amandes runs a studio [in Interbay] behind a sex club, but it was where we could record, all day and all night, at all volumes. This studio is where the bulk of recording seemed to go on, but it kept the main vibe of bohemian industrial and beat nickery.”
