Mina Caputo, who formerly fronted the heavy metal group Life of Agony as Keith Caputo, has just released a video for “Identity”, off her upcoming album release As Much Truth As One Can Bear.
Caputo, who co-founded Life of Agony and worked off and on as their lead singer for close to 20 years, announced in 2011 that she would be making a transition from male to female, and began going by the name Keith Mina Caputo. Eventually she would shorten her name to simply Mina, and in an interview with Artisan News Service, posted on Caputo’s website, she speaks of the reciprocal influence she and Against Me! vocalist Laura Jane Grace have had on each other.
The pending release of As Much Truth As One Can Bear marks Caputo’s first solo release as a female, and while the video for its first single is NSFW, its lyrics speak heavily towards what the singer has undergone over the years.
