Black Joe Lewis, a four-piece, Texas-based fusion band, is excited to announce that they will be releasing their second full-length album, Electric Slave, on August 27th with Vagrant Records.
While the majority of the album is produced by GRAMMY award winner Stuart Sikes, who has produced albums by the White Stripes, Cat Power, and Modest Mouse; three of the record’s tracks (“Skulldiggin,” “Dar Es Salaam,” “My Blood Ain’t Runnin’ Right”) are recorded and produced by John Congleton, who has worked with artists such as Explosions in the Sky, St. Vincent, and Okkervil River.
When pressed as to the meaning behind the album’s title, Electric Slave, Joe Lewis stated, “Electric Slave is what people are today with their faces buried in their iPhones and the only way to hold a conversation is through text.” Lewis continued to say that much of the album’s thematic content draws from this motif.
