After the recent tragic events in Oklahoma, The Flaming Lips, Kings of Leon, and others will be holding a benefit concert to raise funds for tornado victims.
Oklahoma’s own Flaming Lips and Kings of Leon have combined their efforts with Jackson Browne and other musicians to raise funds for victims of the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma, which took many lives and caused over $2 billion in damage.
A benefit concert will be held on July 23rd will be held, in which all proceeds will be donated to organizations and charities in central Oklahoma.
“We couldn’t be more proud to lend a hand to our home state. We were all devastated by what happened there… we have family and friends that were affected by the tornados… this is the least we could do.”
said Kings of Leon’s Jared Followill to Tulsa World.
The Flaming Lips’ own Wayne Coyne is willing to do anything to help. Being an Oklahoma native, Coyne empathizes with victims saying, “They are us and we are them.” Coyne also goes on to quote Shakespeare, saying “It is not enough to help the needy up, but to support them after”.
