The Replacements Announce Official Reunion and First Shows In 22 Years

The Replacements are officially reuniting to play their first shows in 22 years at three Riot Fests in Chicago, Toronto and Denver this summer. Also headlining at this year’s Riot Fest are bands Blink 182, Fall Out Boy and more.

Members of the celebrated alternative rock group, The Replacements, faced some tough times when guitarist Slim Dunlop had a stroke in February 2012. In October of last year the band announced they would be releasing an LP to benefit their bandmate. It was the first Replacements collaboration in six years and brought up speculation of reunion shows from press and fans.

Just a few month later in January 2013, The Replacements released their benefit EP Songs for Slim. January 15th, 250 autographed copies of the EP were auctioned off over the course of 10 days. They would later distribute Songs for Slim digitally and through radio outlets. The speculation for reunion shows was now in the forefront and in mid-May Riot Fest announced The Replacements as headliners for shows in Chicago, Toronto and Denver. This will be the band’s first show in 22 years, their last show being on July 4, 1991 in Chicago. Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson have been confirmed in the band’s line-up and the complete line-up will be announced at a later date.
