In just its 2nd year, Riot Fest Denver has got a lineup that rivals just about every other festival out there this year. Notably leading the group is The Replacements, joining back together for their first show since 1991.
Rolling Stone has revealed that The Replacements singer Paul Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson will be making the reunion happen at the fest, but that original drummer Chris Mars will not be taking part. Westerberg and Stinson were inspired to get the band back together after recording the covers EP Songs for Slim last year, in an effort to raise money for their former guitarist Slim Dunlap, who had suffered a stroke.
Playing alongside these legendary punkers at the fest will be such influential acts as Iggy and the Stooges, Guided By Voices, Public Enemy and Rancid, as well as newer stars Matt & Kim, Best Coast, Bosnian Rainbows and more.
Riot Fest Denver will be held September 21-22 at May Farms in Byers, Colo., with other Riot Fest installments in Chicago and Toronto. Tickets for Denver can be found here, and check below for a full listing of the festival’s lineup.
