Digital Noise Academy, a dream team of six busy music professionals making awesome music together, released their first album yesterday, Synemy.
Digital Noise Academy (DNA) is a collaborative project, made up of three full-time music producers/mixers, one solo artist, and two band members. Ultimately, the release of Synemy also became collaborative—as a result of a successful Kickstarter campaign where three of the rewards actually included making music with the band.
The band is comprised of some notable membership; Ken Andrews – Artist, producer, mixer, and composer, of the now disbanded Failure, is know for producing and mixing for other artists such as Pete Yorn, Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Tenacious D, and Lost Prophets. Andrews also co-composed the Score to the Kevin Spacey film Shrink in 2010.
Sharky Laguana is a guitarist, keyboardist, and samplist, best known as co-founder and co-songwriter of the band Creeper Lagoon, and has also toured and performed shows with Guided By Voices, Pavement, and Built to Spill to name a few. Charlotte Martin has recorded both major label and independent releases, performed sold-out shows to audiences across the United States and shared stages with the likes of Liz Phair, Pete Yorn, Damien Rice, Jason Mraz, and many others. Her music has been licensed for countless television shows, including So You Think You Can Dance, which regularly features her song “The Dance” during the show’s open.
In an interview with mxdwn last year, Justin Meldahl-Johnsen spoke about how he has continued to impressively work and tour nonstop for 7 years with multiple headline-caliber bands such as Beck, Air, Nine Inch Nails, and M83. He additionally produced numerous side projects and artists like Paramore and Tegan & Sara, while also composing multiple film scores. Fernando Sanchez is a studio and touring drummer who was a member of Latin Grammy nominated band, Volumen Cero. Over the years he has recorded and toured with many artists, including Pete Yorn, Rachael Yamagata, Chris Cornell, Lenka, Ingrid Michaelson, Christina Perri, Ben Jelen, Paloalto, Kate Havnevik, Luis Fonsi, Erin McCarley, JD Natasha, Meiko, Nil Lara. Jordan Zadorozny is the creative force behind the band Blinker the Star. He is also a producer/engineer, having worked on projects by Sam Roberts, Melissa Auf Der Mar, MaDM, and Ken Andrews.
