Beth Gibbons, lead singer and lyricist of trip-hop group Portishead, has revealed to the public that she will release a solo album in the not so distant future. It will be the first album the notoriously private singer has put out in ten years.
Gibbon signed to London indie label Domino Records, who represent artists such as Animal Collective and Pavement, back in March. In a short update about the development on her website, she hints at new work:
It’s great to be with a British Independent and I love working with Laurence (Bell).
The last new work from Gibbons was a collaboration with Rustin Man of Talk Talk titled Out Of Season. That was in 2003. To tide you over until this announcement comes to fruition, Portishead will be on the European festival circuit for the month of June.
