Metallica Says They Have Enough Material for New Album

The rockers are ecstatic to share the new material they’ve been working on lately, but other projects have sidetracked them greatly. Metallica have been keeping exceptionally busy over the past few months, carrying the full weight of their own personal venture, Orion Music and More festival, which will be held in Detroit in July. They are also preparing to release a 3D documentary movie about their careers.

To fund the movie they’re making entirely independently, they have been touring in obscure locations seemingly at random and keeping their focus away from releasing new music. They claim to have enough raw material to whittle into an amazing record eventually, but their collective focus right now is not on crafting auditory masterpieces—rather, cinematic.

“Metallica Through the Never” will be released into IMAX theatres in September. The band admits it has been an ambitious project, but they hope its success will be worth it in the end.
