Drumgasm is the result of three powerful drummers from well-known rock groups joining forces to create a totally spontaneous explosion of sound in an empty room hooked up with only three people, three drum kits, and various microphones. Intrigued? You should be, as something like this is extremely rare and possibly incomparable.
Of course, that inevitably means that devout fans of all three drummers’ respective projects—Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Janet Weiss of Sleater-Kinney and Wild Flag, and Zach Hill of Hella and Death Grips—are taking notice. The concept is brand new and bringing the spotlight onto drummers in a deeply significant and utterly unforgettable way. The collaboration is significant not only due, obviously, to the combined histories of three extremely talented rock artists, but to the complete diversion from and rejection of expected musical norms. The absurdity is refreshing.
Very few details regarding this project have been released as of yet, but they are soon to come. It does appear that a label from Portland, Oregon called Jackpot Records will be involved, and the album will be immensely raw and spontaneous. Get excited!
More information can be found here as it is released in the weeks and months to come.
