Stone Temple Pilots Are Being Sued by Former Vocalist Scott Weiland for $5 Million

Former Stone Temple Pilots is suing the band for $5 million dollars in damages for unjust firing.

Earlier this year it was reported guitarist Scott Weiland was fired from Stone Temple Pilots. This came around the same time he was planning solo tour in which it advertised he was to play some STP songs. Consequence of Sound now reports Weiland is suing his former band for $5 million. Weiland claims there were agreements set allowing each band member to play on their own and asks, “How do you expel a man from a band that he started, named, sang lead on every song, wrote the lyrics and was the face of for 20 years, and then try to grab the name and goodwill for yourselves?” The rest of the band is on the other side accusing Weiland of “misusing the band’s name to further his solo career.”

This comes after the remaining members performed with Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington. We will continue to follow this story as it develops.
