After an 11-year absence, Stephen Merritt’s Future Bible Heroes side project is back with a brand new record, entitled Partygoing. Unfortunately, Merritt won’t be on tour with group, as he focuses on the next Magnetic Fields record. Longtime collaborator Claudia Gonson will be fronting the band, which includes fellow Magnetic Fields bandmate Shirley Simms, Christopher Ewen and Anthony Kaczynski. Even without Merritt’s presence, Future Bible Heroes’ heartfelt synth pop balladry is not something to be missed.
