Beck Set to Lead All-Star Performance of Songbook Song Reader in July 2013, To Include Jarvis Cocker, Franz Ferdinand, Charlotte Gainsbourg and More

July 2013 Beck will be performing the 2012 release of his print songbook Song Reader. The performance will feature artists like Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker, Franz Ferdinand, Beth Orton and more.

Since the release of his 2012 Song Reader, Beck has not performed any material live from the songbook. Instead of releasing an album, Beck’s songbook has taken on wings of its’ own, having been performed worldwide by many artists, both amateur and world renowned. This will be Beck’s first in-concert performance of the music written in Song Reader. Beck will lead the Song Reader performances in London on July 4th, 2013 at the Barbican, with all-star artists like Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker, Franz Ferdinand, Beth Orton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joan Wasser (aka Joan As Police Woman), Villagers’ Conor J O’Brien, the Staves, Guillemots, Michael Kiwanuka, James Yorkston, the Pictish Trail, and more to be announced. Along with this incredible line-up, the house band will include Seb Rochford of Polar Bear on drums, Tom Herbert of the Invisible on bass, Dave Okumu of the Invisible on guitar, with music direction by Ed Harcourt and David Coulter.

The Barbican will also be showcasing Song Reader artwork and amateur interpretations preceding the show.
