Trent Reznor Announces Nine Inch Nails Has Completed a New Album Set for Release Later This Year

The mastermind behind Nine Inch Nails admits that he’s been “less than honest” about his recent activities, revealing the real reason behind re-assembling Nine Inch Nails.

I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately.

It has been known for awhile that Trent Reznor reconfigured Nine Inch Nails, including the departure of bassist Eric Avery and the addition of Robin Finck, but until now Reznor was reconfiguring NIN under the pretense of having a band to tour with. Reznor came clean in a press release though:

For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!

This will be the first album since NIN’s 2008 effort, The Slip and it will be released on Columbia. Not that Reznor hasn’t been busy since then; scoring several films and starting How to destroy angels_ who just announced remix contest. Earlier this year Nine Inch Nails also released their 1994-1995 Self Destruct Tour documentary for free streaming online.

UPDATE 6/5: The official Nine Inch Nails Twitter account has just tweeted the following: “halo twenty eight: hesitation marks. 9.03.13.”

It would appear that this the official album title and release date for the new Nine Inch Nails album. More on this as it develops.

UPDATE 2 6/6: Confirmed to be the title. Available for pre-order here. Album cover below.

UPDATE 3 6/6: Massive U.S. tour announced with Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed! You Black Emperor.
