Following a treasure hunt of clues and codes containing info about their latest LP, Scottish ambient electronic duo Boards of Canada chose an abandoned waterpark in Southern California as the location to premiere their new album, Tomorrow’s Harvest.
After a tweet from BoC containing a date, time and satellite image of an unknown location, a small group of hardcore fans gathered Monday afternoon at the deserted Lake Delores Waterpark in the Mojave Desert to hear the most recent LP from the odd brothers.
This seems to be the climax of a spree of vague tweets and random events releasing only bits and pieces of Tomorrow’s Harvest. Earlier this month the video for the first single from the album, “Reach for the Dead,” made it’s debut on a screen in the middle of Tokyo intersection, and on Record Store Day in April a series of song clips on 12″ vinyl were given to a few random shoppers.
The full album was streamed to the desert audience over two speakers bookending an old trailer. The location goes hand-in-hand with the bleak imagery in the “Reach for the Dead” video. Watch a recording of the undercover premiere below:
