Trevor Bolder has passed away at the age of 62 after a rigorous battle with cancer. The British rocker was best known for playing bass for Uriah Heep and David Bowie in the 70’s.
Bolder joined guitarist Mick Ronson in backing Bowie’s album Hunky Dory in 1971 also contributing to albums following such as The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Aladdin Sane and Pin Ups. Bolder then went on to play for Uriah Heep replacing former bassist John Wetton.
Bolder played on every Uriah Heep album since 1982 including their 2011 album entitled Into the Wild.
Uriah Heep describes Bolder as,
an all time great, one of the outstanding musicians of his generation, and one of the finest and most influential bass players that Britain ever produced.”
After announcing a sabbatical to the group to undergo surgery, Bolder was confirmed to have been battling and receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer. He had hoped to appear back on stage with Uriah Heep in the near future.
