R.I.P. Phil Buerstatte of White Zombie

Phil Buerstatte, who drummed for White Zombie from 1992-1994, was found dead at 44. Ex-bandmate, Paul Schluter, confirmed the news in an e-mail to Spin.

Buerstatte drummed in Madison Wisconsin based heavy-metal band, Last Crack, in the late 80s and early 90s before moving on play with White Zombie for its “La Sexorcisto” tour, remaining with the band until 1994. The drummer can be found on three recordings with White Zombie: ‘Feed the Gods’ from the ‘Airheads’ soundtrack, ‘I AM HELL’ for a ‘Beavis and Butthead’ soundtrack and a cover of Black Sabbath‘s ‘Children of the Grave.’ Details of the circumstances of Buerstatte’s death are unclear at the moment.
