It took over a decade for Junip to release their first album, so the three year wait that preceded their latest, self-titled effort seems almost reasonable by comparison. In the interim, the trio of José González, Elias Araya and Tobias Winterkorn have developed more of their tight-knit arrangements, layered with electronic flourishes and intricate rhythms. A brief US tour this summer will bring the group all the way from Sweden to Lincoln Hall— the perfect venue to showcase Junip’s sonic complexities.
