The newest addition to this year’s GWAR-B-Q lineup makes for one of the biggest reunions GWAR’s ever seen. And the added band, The X-Cops, promise to do their duty at maintaining rock ‘n’ roll justice while at the festival.
This will be the first time since 1996 The X-Cops will reunite to play together, and it will feature the complete original lineup of Lt. Louie Scrapinetti (Mike Derks), Cadet Billy Club (Mike Dunn), Patrolman Cobb Knobbler (Dave Brockie), Sgt. Al Depantsia (Pete Lee), Sherriff Tubb Tucker (Casey Orr), Mountain Bike Officer Biff Buff (Brad Roberts), Sgt. Zypygski (Bob Gorman), and Detective Philip McRevis (Dave Musel). True GWAR fans will know this grouping of comical musicians as members of the mid-90s version of their beloved band – formed in 1995, The X-Cops were a side project of GWAR that “toured” with them for occasional stops. After their last show together, Dunn, Lee, Orr and Musel left both of the bands, but Derks, Brockie and Roberts remained playing with GWAR, and are still with the band today.
The current GWAR lineup just finished a run of shows as part of their Fate or Chaos Tour, and will be releasing their 13th studio album, Battle Maximus, later this year. Recently the band announced one of the songs on the new album will be tribute to deceased member Corey Smoot.
All of this makes the pending GWAR-B-Q more exciting than ever, and stay tuned to its website for even more enticing announcements.
