New Kanye West Album Rumored for June 18th Release

Ahh, the power of an elusive Kanye West tweet. The world was set abuzz with today’s early morning Twitter post from Mr. West, as it very likely indicates the release date for his next album.

Choosing to include nothing but the following in the post, West left much to speculation on what the date could mean.

Sources point to June 18 being the release date for West’s latest musical masterpiece, an album that has been rumored to be named I Am God, or I Am A God. New York City radio DJ Peter Rosenberg has also stated that the album is complete, and after hearing it at a recent Def Jam listening party, described it simply as “dark.”

This analysis of the new record’s sound echoes what Chicago rap blog Fake Shore Drive has reported, as they have said Kanye’s newest may be influenced by Chicago’s menacing drill scene.

Many artists appear to be joining West on the album, as everyone from Daft Punk to Azealia Banks and so many more have been cited as collaborating with him in a Paris studio.

The official release date still hangs in the air, however, after journalist Elliott Wilson tweeted today, “Chris Atlas at Def Jam confirmed. Kanye West. New album. 6.18.13,” then rescinded his statement by posting, “Clarity: Kanye West album release date has NOT been confirmed. Apologies to Chris Atlas.” So now we all sit back and wait for the new Kanye music. At least we’ve got his May 18 performance on Saturday Night Live’s season finale to tide us over, in the meantime.
