Popular gypsy-punk band Gogol Bordello has announced the title and release date of their upcoming album.
Pura Vida Conspiracy will be Gogol Bordello’s sixth studio album. According to a press release, the songs are “infused with ideas rooted in Eastern philosophy but also search for a means of joining fragmented parts and persons, and of creating a worldwide consciousness.” Pura Vida Conspiracy, like most Gogol Bordello albums, will bring together the groups global influences. Gogol Bordello is well known for their music connecting to Latin and Eastern European styles. The album was produced by Andrew Scheps, who also worked with Gogol Bordello on their 2010 album, Trans-Continental Hustle. Frontman Eugene Hutz comments:
For me music is a way to explore human potential… And that’s my main interest in life – human potential. Everyone knows there’s something inside of us that we’re not using. How do we get it? How do we reach it? Every single person knows that there’s something and nobody knows what it is. So at one point I said to myself, ‘I’m gonna get down and get it.’
Gogol Bordello has already released the albums first track, titled “Malandrino.” This track was inspired by mariachi music and features “some fucking cool Mexican horns,” according to Hutz. Pura Vida Conspiracy is scheduled to come out July 23rd via ATO/Casa Gogol Records. Click here to listen to “Malandrino.”
