In anticipation of tomorrow’s release of Tom Cruise’s newest sci-fi movie venture, Oblivion, m83 and mesmerizing songstress Susanne Sundfør appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to deliver the film’s title track.
This is m83’s first foray into music composition for a film, and to say it’s a giant leap into film scoring is a bit of an understatement, considering the enormity of this movie’s budget and expectations. Last year band member Anthony Gonzalez said to The Playlist, however:
I’m not afraid to do my first soundtrack on a big Hollywood movie, with a big budget and a lot of pressure. I like challenges and it excites me more than frightens me.
The French shoegazers recently streamed the soundtrack in its entirety for listeners, but take a look below at their spectacular live performance on Kimmel using Sundfør’s gorgeously strong vocals and a full orchestra.
