Avey Tare may have just wrapped a busy run of shows with his Animal Collective bandmates, but he now seems eager to keep the music flowing with the indie supergroup he’s concocting with former Dirty Projectors member Angel Deradoorian and ex-Ponytail drummer Jeremy Hyman.
Calling themselves Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks, Tare has this to say about the band’s creation and image:
A group of three hippies on a road trip through the backwaters of 2013s rural music scene fall prey to a murderous cannibalistic band making, including a leather-masked, guitar-wielding Avey Tare, his knife-wielding keyboard player Angel Deradoorian, and their cannibal chief drummer and decaying grandfather Jeremy Hyman.
During these early days of the band’s existence, an album has yet to be announced, but so far the trio are scheduled for four shows this June:
