Third Man Records Announces New ‘Vault’ Record Titled “Nine Miles From the White City” Featuring The White Stripes

Jack White’s Third Man Records has announced the details to its Vault Package #16. It is titled Nine Miles From the Whole City and its main source of attraction is a 2xLP live set of The White Stripes circa 2003, around the time their acclaimed album Elephant was being released. Nine Miles From the Whole City plays 26 songs and clocks in at 79 minutes with a full force White Stripes concert experience. It includes covers of Bob Dylan’s “Love Sick” and Captain Beefheart’s “Party of Special Things to Do” as well as a rendition of “Seven Nation Army” taking place in the middle of the set, which later becomes a permanent closer.

In addition to the Nine Miles From the Whole City live performance, Vault Package #16 includes a 7″ of Jack White performing demos of “I Want to be the Boy to Warm Your Mother’s Heart” and Little Acorns” only accompanied by his piano. The bonus item in the package is a 56-page photo book of pictures taken by David Swanson during the recording of Elephant. The Third Man Records website describes the box set with, “the live show, the demos and the photos all help to contextualize Elephant, the surroundings it sprung from, the resultant whirlwind it created and all the chaos in-between.” Once again, Third Man Records have put together fine work of White Stripes history.
