As part of Red Bull Music Academy’s NYC takeover, A Night of Improvised Round Robin Duets features over fifteen musicians and DJ’s and has a really unique format. What is it? Simple. It goes like this… One musician will take the stage with a solo improvisation lasting five minutes. Then, another musician will join for five minutes for a duo improvisation. After those five minutes are over, musician #3 will come on and join musician #2. And so on, and so forth. This is an extremely experimental event so there is no knowing what could happen! Doesn’t it sound exciting?!
The event is featuring performances from ?uestlove, Andrew W.K., Bernie Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic), DJ Spinna, Don Byron, Dosh, Erik Friedlander, Glenn Kotche, James Chance, Joe Lovano, Julia Holter, Kim Gordon, Mary Halvorson, Matana Roberts, Thundercat & many more to be announced; with special opening set by Jameszoo.
