Rocket From The Crypt made their big return with a quasi-secret reunion show at Bar Pink in San Diego this past Sunday, March 31st, in front of 150 lucky people who got in. Watch the video below.
Their lineup of singer-guitarist John “Speedo” Reis, guitarist Andy “ND” Stamets, bassist Pete “Petey X” Reichert, saxophonist Paul “Apollo 9” O’Beirne, trumpet player Jason “JC2000” Crane and drummer Mario “Ruby Mars” Rubalcaba played an 80-minute set covering much of their history. Opening their set with an instrumental song “Pushed”, the eagerly awaited crowd spent eight long years for this return and got their wishes granted.
This was their first true live performance aside from their October 2011 reunion for Nickelodeon’s Yo Gabba Gabba!
Reis joked with the crowd about the band’s upcoming European and United Kingdom reunion tour and even waved a copy of their 23-song setlist, asking fans what songs they should have played and which ones should be removed. He even joked about removing “Ditch Digger,” a song he claims to dislike. Stamets later added “Glazed” as one he didn’t care for.
One show down for Rocket From The Crypt’s big return and soon they will figure out what songs will make the ideal setlist for their rabid fanbase.
