Roger Waters Rounding Fellow Musicians to Boycott Israel for Crimes Against Palestinians

A few months ago, Roger Waters verbally took a stand against the State of Israel, accusing the country of unspeakable international crimes against the people of Palestine. More recently he has issued a public statement encouraging his fellow musicians to boycott the country.

The movement has been vastly ignored by the mainstream media thus far but Waters has faith in its significance and hopes that the message will echo through the music industry. He has already been quite successful in some regards. Last year he convinced UN ambassador for peace Stevie Wonder not to play a gala function for Israeli Defense Forces. He explained that in his opinion it was hypocritical.

In the near future, a single may be released by Waters to spread awareness about this cause. Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt has expressed interest in a collaboration to this effect; in the same vein as the protest against apartheid that Van Zandt organized in the 1980’s, well-known musicians would help to heighten political awareness.
