Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow of MS MR came out and opened with their gloomy single, “Bones”, to much anticipation at the Filter Cedar Street Party at SXSW. The band started off very serious with Lizzy belting out the songs with a sound almost similar to Florence, but later the MS and MR began to jest at each other, dancing back and forth, and talking to the crowd. They had the right combination of mysteriousness and playfulness to throughly entertain. As the sun beat down on the NYC duo, they managed to perform six more tracks including “Fantasy”, “Dark Doo Wop”, and “Hurricane”. Their live performance was as good as their recordings, and very well received this afternoon.
