Indie Rockers The Walkmen played their one and only set this SXSW as a part of Rhapsody Rocks Austin’s day show. The entire outside stage of the Club Deville was a sea of fans buzzing with excitement as the band took the stage. It was a clear statement by the overheard conversations prior to the band’s arrival that their were many people present who considered this a pretty exciting moment in their SXSW adventure for the weekend. The set spanned an hour of old and newer material, and the band sounded almost like a recorded version of themselves being played back by how smooth and airy the music sounded as it came off the stage, and over the crowd. Hamilton Leithauser’s vocals were near perfect. For being the band’s only performance of the festival, it felt right, and was wonderful for those lucky enough to be in attendance.
