Lucy Rose is a tiny young thing, a dainty blonde with some serious chops. She was dwarfed by the lofty St. David’s church, but she more than filled the room with her fluid, luscious folk. Her music defies genre classification, moving from introspective acoustic to jazz to all-out rock—sometimes in the same song. The audience was grooving in the pews during songs like “Middle of the Bed”, and new tunes (including one first performed here in Austin) sparkled as much as her familiar favorites. She beamed as she played, and the crowd was easily caught up in her joy.
