Yet another trio, Girl in a Coma, veered more toward throaty hard rock. Lead singer Nina Diaz punched out power chords and howled with spirit on each track. At one point she humorously quipped, “If you’re here with a date, now’s the time to grab their butt. Because it’s a love song.” They then did an appropriately dark cover of “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” Girl in a Coma are another solid example of female-fronted rock that is awesome.
