Its a pretty good sign for an album when Wavves’ Nathan Williams spends an entire year in the studio listening to Weezer in order to prepare for the upcoming release Afraid of Heights. The album is set to be out March 26, but before then Williams and co band member Stephen Pope spilled the beans about what to expect from their latest cut.
I feel like I was a real cocky motherfucker when I first started doing this. I really believed I was the shit. Now, not so much, but as a songwriter, I think I’m better. You know the tone of King of the Beach and the first two records? Like, I ‘got no car, got no money,’ but, I still got my parents’ house to live in so it’s not that bad. It could have been much worse, and now, my parents have no money and I’m paying their rent while I’m paying my mortgage. In general, the realness of life starts to hit you later on. That’s more prominent on this record.
The album is composed of 13 tracks, two of which, Demon to Lean On and “Sail to the Sun”, have been released to prep fans for what’s in store.
Afraid of Heights arrives through Mom + Pops Records while Wavves is also planning a tour for the coming months.
