June 11 can not get here any faster for rock and metal fans as they await 13, Black Sabbath’s first studio album since 1995.
13 also reunites original Sabbath members Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi, as they joined Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk in recording the new album. This will be the first studio album Osbourne has recorded with Sabbath since 1978’s Never Say Die!
Jack Osborne has now captured the legendary group at work in two different videos, available on the band’s website. Here’s a look at one of them, and Rick Rubin’s excitement on producing Black Sabbath’s “return to the fold” album:
As of March 13, the upcoming release is available for pre-order in a number of different formats, via www.blacksabbath.com. 13 can be pre-ordered as either a standard CD, a deluxe double CD that includes a disc of exclusive audio, a 12″ vinyl or a super deluxe box set. Inside the box set will be the double CD, as well as the 12” vinyl, a DVD of the “Black Sabbath–The Re-union” documentary, 5 behind-the-scenes videos, a download card of track by track interviews with Black Sabbath, 13 photographic prints and hand written lyrics from the new album.
As if there wasn’t enough appeal to the pending release already, those who pre-order any of the formats via the Sabbath website will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of VIP tickets for album’s launch event in London, as well as flights, accommodation and a meet and greet with the band.
In the meantime, Sabbath will be wowing audiences on a handful of tour dates throughout New Zealand, Australia and Japan this Spring. Catch ’em while you can.
